Being a teenager gets a whole lot more complicated for Anna when a zombie outbreak forces her and her friends to fight their way to their high school to rescue their parents. Singing and dancing their way to escape, they find they have to contend with more than just the vicious undead. This action-packed musical comedy promises to be a fresh twist on the zombie genre.
The original Zombie Musical was shot over 6 days in April 2010. Written and directed by Ryan McHenry, it has a running time of 18 minutes and stars Joanne McGuinness, Stephen Arden and Calum Cormack. It received 3 BAFTA New Talent Nominations in 2011 (Producer, Director, Original Music) with a win for Best Producer. The film premiered at Glasgow Frightfest in 2011, and was screened at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2011.
In the summer of 2010 we showcased some clips of Zombie Musical at the Dumfries Film Festival. It was here we first met Arabella Page Croft and Kieran Parker – the producers behind Glasgow based production company Black Camel Pictures, who loved the idea and wanted to see it in something bigger and better.
The film is now in a co-production with Black Camel and we are developing the feature length version of the project which we expect to shoot in Spring 2012. The feature script is currently in the draft stage and is being written by Alan McDonald and Ryan McHenry, who will also return as director.
